Listening to: Vertigo - U2

I survived the 12 Pubs of Christmas.

I survived relatively unscathed and with my dignity intact (mind you I haven’t seen the photos yet… so the jury is still out). Originally I had only intended to do the first 4 or so pubs. By the time I had reached the 7th pub my impaired internal logic dictated that as I was going to pass the rest of pubs on the way home I might as well have a pint in each of them.

Most pleasing of all was the fact that I didn’t have a hang over the next day. Water, a KFC 3 piece quarter pack and 2 vegemite sandwiches before bed put to rest any possible problems.

I have also decided that drinking with the Irish is a cultural experience. Towards the end of the day we had collected approximately 30 people… the vast majority were Irish. There was nothing that stood out… it was more that there is a set of unwritten rules that every one plays by. As a social experience it is completely different from similar Kiwi events… in that it was far more social. Everyone was social.
