The Dowse currently has an exhibition on called the The
New Cool. Over the next few Saturdays Weltec will
be hosting a series of seminars featuring the founders of the companies featured in
The New Cool exhibiton. This weekend it is “Aotearoa Beats”.
Directors from Dawn Raid Entertainment, Disruptiv and LOOP Aot(ear)oa Recordings
handle some of Aotearoa’s hottest talent. They discuss their multi-faceted involvement
in the music industry both locally and globally. They are joined by Inject Design,
creators of Fat Freddy’s Drop website and graphic identity.
I yarned about The New Cool exhibition before.

Listening to: Doogie Howser running SQL scripts
Anyone who has started a company will know the you live or die based on the success
of your sales team. I found a pretty
good outline of the sales cycle I am familiar with:
-
Understanding the Market
-
Understanding the Offering
-
Finding likely customers
-
Prospecting
-
Initial discussions
-
Engagement
-
Managing the Sales process – External Sale
-
Managing the Sales process – Internal Sale
-
Handling the Competition
-
Qualification
-
Handling Objections
-
Demonstrating capabilities
-
Negotiation
-
Closing the Sale
-
Handing over the delivery team
-
Managing the post sale
-
Account Management
-
Extending the footprint
-
Managing the support and services revenues
I have found that the key steps are often the 1st two because understanding what you’re
selling and to whom makes everything else much much easier.

Listening to: Office noise
From AppleInsider.com:
The latest version of Apple’s iTunes jukebox software was in circulation only
a matter of minutes before Apple enthusiasts began tearing the application’s resources
to bits, searching for clues on the highly anticipated iTunes music phone scheduled
for release in a matter of days.
Of course, iTunes 4.9 did not disappoint. Instead, it continued to whet the appetite
of consumers who seem to have been waiting for the Motorola-designed phone to debut
for almost a year.
Immediately, enthusiasts located phrases such as “Eject mobile phone,” “iPod Phone
Prefs,” “iPodPhoneiTunes Setup,” and “PhoneUpdating contacts” from inside the application’s
resources.

Keyhole, released as Google Earth, is now free
to download and use. There is a $20/year sub for better quality images.
I have discussed Keyhole with glee in a previous
post.
