Excellent… RDC does
a full screen mode and I get Windows in the wide screen mode. This could become my
preferred set up I think. The beauty of it is that I can still lay my Mac apps over
the top… so I get a Windows XP back drop.

Listening to: “C” Moon Cry Like A Baby - Simple Minds
Gizmodo has the first
part in an essay by the folks at frog on DRM:
…why are DRM systems being designed to do exactly that, to treat
users like either infants or borderline criminals? If DRM let consumers exceed limits
when they needed to, the technology would feel more flexible, more like it’s
on the Average Joe’s side. And, as a result, there’d be a lot less rage
directed against it.
Great too see this being addressed as a design issue.

Listening to: Luck - Minuit
From one of the architects of Neo-conservatism, Francis Fukuyama:
FRANCIS FUKUYAMA, AUTHOR, “AMERICA AT THE CROSSROADS”:
It was an overestimation, I think, of the importance of American power in bringing
about the, you know, democracy in general.
O‘DONNELL:
What‘s stunning is that Fukuyama is one of the leading architects of neoconservatism.
But three years after the invasion, he now says it was misused in Iraq.
FUKUYAMA:
You know, conservatism is as American as apple pie. This is a long-standing tradition,
this American idealism, to see ourselves as a model for the rest of the world.
O‘DONNELL
(on camera): So what‘s wrong?
FUKUYAMA: You
know, the problem, really, was the overmilitarization of the means. I think we‘ve
spread democracy through political influence, through the example that we set, through
funding.
Crooks and Liars has the interview
footage.

From engadget:
If you’ve got a Mac mini hooked up to a television in your living room,
you’ll be able to see the media that you’ve got on every machine you’ve got hooked
up to your network in your house. And, of course, the Mac mini comes with iLife 06…
UPDATE: Here’s the bad boy.

For the first time in this poll, most Americans say the president does not care
much about people like themselves. Fifty-one percent now think he doesn’t care, compared
to 47 percent last fall.

They replayed the doco of the construction of the Falkirk
Wheel on Discovery over the weekend… I meant to post some links to the
structure, but forgot. Thankfully engadget
reminded me this morning:
It’s such a marvelous construction… really 80’s British Sci Fi. You can just imagine
a civilization far in the future pondering the meaning of the structure.
