Creating Design Superstars

Listening to: The Secret Marriage - Sting

We’ve started to see something really exciting with Ponoko… regular traffic blips driven by products that capture people’s imaginations. Over the past 3 weeks the following products have gained a delightful level of traction:

It’s super exciting to see the larger ‘machine’ working the way we predicted.

Listening to: Black Friday - Concord Dawn

Gizmodo has a bunch of WKII photos. I saw the WIRED gallery yesterday… my first thought was that it wasn’t the prettiest airplane that Burt Rutan has created :-(. It’s horribly superficial, I know, and it makes me a bad fan boi - but the aesthetics of Burt’s design work has always been one of the big reasons that I love his work. I’m sure it flies like a dream.

Listening to: Violence & Bloodshed - Shihad

Awesome!

I have just finished uploading version 0.2 of my SketchUp plug-in to “Google Code” under GNU GPL v3. The plug-in and source code is available via the download area, and also via SVN.

This plug-in should allow users to export selected faces from SketchUp as Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). This is of particular use for aiding in the design of laser cut products (especially using Inkscape and Ponoko).

Listening to: Nites Like These - Mark De Clive-Lowe

There are some amazing designs being submitted… well worth checking out.

I won’t post any here because that would be deemed as favoritism.
