Oh yes! Work it does! - Aquaflow Test Drive

Listening to: The Paradigm Shift - Rhian Sheehan

I attended the Aquaflow Bionomic test drive this afternoon - a world first running of a vehicle on bio-diesel derived from wild algae. The car was running on a standard B5 blend.

Oh yes! Work it does!

UPDATE: World first wild algae bio-diesel test drive

The world’s first wild algae bio-diesel, produced in New Zealand by Aquaflow Bionomic Corporation, was successfully test driven in Wellington today by the Minister for Energy and Climate Change Issues, David Parker.

Listening to: Mercado Nuevo [2006] - John Murphy

As part of the LA Auto Show a number of concept designs were submitted as entrants to the Design Challenge. The most interesting, for me, is the Toyota RLV:

It uses a pedal/electric power train.

China’s Richest Man: A Solar Magnate

November 14th, 2006 by davidtenhave

Listening to: Cosmology (Gasoline Cowboy Remake) - Rhian Sheehan

Repeat after me. Massive Structural Change. From Treehugger:

In another sign of the country’s shift from red to green, its wealthiest man (by some estimates) is making a windfall on solar energy. While Shi Zhengrong, the founder and CEO of Wuxi-based Suntech Power, is known as the richest man on the mainland or just China’s wealthiest energy magnate, his Australian citizenship means he cannot hold the title of the richest Chinese man according to Forbes (that just went to Huang Guangyu, an electronics entrepreneur). But that’s a technicality, and who’s counting anyway?

China to Pass U.S. in 2009 in Emissions

November 7th, 2006 by davidtenhave

Listening to: Guardian Angel - Concord dawn

From NY Times:

LONDON, Nov. 6 — China will surpass the United States in 2009, nearly a decade ahead of previous predictions, as the biggest emitter of the main gas linked to global warming, the International Energy Agency has concluded in a report to be released Tuesday.

China’s rise, fueled heavily by coal, is particularly troubling to climate scientists because as a developing country, China is exempt from the Kyoto Protocol’s requirements for reductions in emissions of global warming gases. Unregulated emissions from China, India and other developing countries are likely to account for most of the global increase in carbon dioxide emissions over the next quarter-century.

Cannondale Jacknife

Listening to: No One Like You - Strawpeople

I found this over at Treehugger… the Cannondale Jacknife.

Lots of foldy goodness and a hydraulic drive (which is something I have never seen before on a bike… but makes perfect sense and offers some really exciting possibilities).
